Two young children will now face life without their mother after Monday’s deadly crash on SR 101 at the Mason/Thurston county line.

37-year-old Jamie Dobson of Shelton perished in a crash that seriously injured her husband and her children.

State Troopers say a medical issue caused the crash.

Washington State Patrolwoman Johnna Batiste says 37-year-old David Dobson of Shelton was having health problems while traveling northbound on SR 101 in the area of the Old Olympic Highway just before 2p.m. A press release states that Dobson’s pickup truck was towing a travel trailer. Dobson’s vehicle reportedly left the roadway to the right, struck a tree causing the vehicle to catch fire. The crash killed Jamie and seriously injured David and their 10-year-old daughter, McKenzie and 8-year-old son, Drake. All three were transported to St. Peters Hospital and later taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

iFIBER ONE News contacted hospital staff Tuesday morning and were informed that David remains in serious condition and Drake and McKenzie are in satisfactory condition.

The crash blocked the highway for 5 hours and 39 minutes.

“It was a brutal scene,” Trooper Johnna Batiste told iFIBER ONE News on Tuesday.

State Patrol was unable to confirm the exact ailment that had afflicted David just before the wreck.
