Two dogs died in a mobile home fire Sunday near Shelton.

SHELTON — Two dogs died in a mobile home fire on Sunday that destroyed the structure.

The owners of the home were not home when the fire broke out on East Sonja Lane off East Pickering Road, said Mike Patti, assistant fire chief and fire marshal for Central Mason Fire and EMS.

“We haven’t been able to determine the cause of the fire,” Patti said, adding it was still under investigation on Monday.

Patti said the structure was engulfed in flames at the time it was reported to Emergency 911 at 2:15 p.m. Sunday.

“It was pretty much on the ground when (firefighters) got there,” Patti said.

Central Mason Fire firefighters responded to the blaze with the assistance of North Mason Regional Fire District and Mason County Fire District 11.
