Shelton Drowning

SHELTON — The body of a 21-year-old Shelton man was found Monday afternoon near the boat ramp off Lost Lake in Shelton.

Mason County Coroner Wes Stockwell said a sheriff’s deputy recovered the body of Ricardo Cruz-Calmo at about 3:12 p.m. Cruz-Calmo was apparently swimming with family when he swam into a sudden drop off from five to 15 feet near the location of the boat ramp, authorities said.

Fire District 13 and the Mason County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene and administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation as well a defibrillator, but attempts to save the man’s life were unsuccessful.

The cause of death was still unconfirmed as of Tuesday afternoon, with an autopsy pending.
