Isaiah Bermeo, 11, is in critical condition after he was hit by a motorist who fled the scene on Sunday northwest of Olympia.

OLYMPIA — An 11-year-old boy is on life support after being struck by a hit-and-run driver on U.S. Highway 101 northwest of Olympia.

The boy, in critical condition and on life support with a serious head injury at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, is reportedly not expected to live.

Washington State Patrol on Tuesday was still looking for the motorist who fled the scene.

KIRO TV reported that the boy, Isaiah Bermeo, has a bubbly, friendly personality, and also has autism. His family recently moved to the area and they don't know why he apparently wandered onto Highway 101 at 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

That's where the driver of a minivan hit the boy, throwing his body into the ditch.

The family is asking for people to help them get justice.

Investigators say a witness identified the vehicle sought as a 2000-era silver or cream-colored minivan. The driver was headed north on Highway 101 near Oyster Bay Road.
