The City of Shelton is announcing the creation of a “Will Pay” program to assist our community members who have been financially impacted by COVID-19. Utility services will not be shut off for non-payment while the COVID-19 pandemic is active. No late charges will be applied to accounts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, normal utility charges will continue to apply and bills are still due on or before the due date. Bill payments may be made online using USA EPay (which can also be accessed through the City of Shelton’s website). The City will consider the pandemic over when the Civic Center is reopened to the public (excluding Municipal Court and Police) and the hiatus on turn-offs is ended by City Council. At that time, those interested in the “Will Pay” program can come to the Civic Center and get signed up. This program is open to all customers.
The goal of the “Will Pay” program is to help lessen the immediate financial impact of missed utility bills due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The city is also looking at several different tools that will assist the community in dealing with the current health crisis. This has been a tumultuous, difficult time for all of us. We want to thank all of you for your patience and understanding as we’ve worked on developing new programs to ensure we’re serving our community as best as we can.
