HOODSPORT (VIDEO) — Hood Canal Events and Hardware Distillery are putting on the 3rd annual Fjordan Crossin paddle the canal event on Saturday. The event which takes place at the Hoodsport Dock starts at noon and run until 5 p.m.
People of all ages will follow the Twanoh boat across the canal and back in non-motorized vessels, including kayaks and paddle boards.
The 3-mile round-trip journey celebrates the Scandinavian Liquor Aquavit. Hardware Distillery produces the Aquavit which is placed out to sea on the Twanoh boat to enhance its flavors.
Hardware Distillery Co-Owner Jan Morris explained the special qualities of Aquavit to iFIBER One’s Jeff Slakey.
"If you kind of think of a base spirit with some interesting spices added to it, and redistilled with those spices, that's what it is," said Morris.
After the race, an award ceremony will be held along with a tasting party and food vendors.
