Firefighters contain a fireworks-caused fire on Monday afternoon.

LACEY — Firefighters contained a grass fire Monday that investigators say was caused by fireworks near Rainier Vista Community Park.

The popular park is in a residential area at the corner of 45th Avenue Southeast and Ruddell Road.

“Bystanders reported juveniles lighting off fireworks in the area just before the fire,” Lacey Fire District 3 reported on Facebook.

The fire district said temperatures are not “super high but area grasses don’t care. It’s dry out there.”

Noting it was July 8 when the fireworks set off the fire, fire officiails said, “Put the fireworks away until next year!”
