scammer

LACEY — Police warn that scammers are using the IRS and the U.S. Grants Department to ask for money.

“If someone claims you are eligible for money and all you have to do is go and buy gift cards and give them the information, you are being scammed,” according to the Lacey Police Department.

“ If they say no payment will result in you getting arrested, hang up.”

The police department warns that people called by scammers should never give any of your personal information, bank or credit card information over the phone. It’s a scam.
