Olympia Firefighters initially dispatched to a report of smoke in the area of the 500 Block of Puget St. NE. Shortly after responding the call was upgraded to a residential structure fire. The incident was dispatched at 9:33 PM. The first fire engine arrived six minutes later, crews found a three story house with a basement fire extending to the upper floors. Fire crews initiated an offensive attack, then the incident commander withdrew the firefighters due to heavy fire and pressurized smoke on all three floors. Firefighters then worked to set up large master streams to manage the fire and protect exposures. The house appears to have been vacant.

The fire is still ongoing and investigators will evaluate the structure when the scene is secure. No injuries have been reported at this time and the fire damage is estimated to be $325,300

Olympia Fire Department responded with four engines, one ladder truck, two medic units and a command unit. Three additional engines from Lacey and Fire District 8 were requested for a reinforced response.
