SHELTON — Paul Olafsen, who faces a first-degree assault charge in the alleged shooting of Spencer Lake Bar and Grill owner Larry Lawrence, entered a not guilty plea Monday morning at his arraignment in Mason County Superior Court.

Represented by his Shelton lawyer, Jeanette Boothe, Olafsen also asked that his $750,000 bail be reduced.

Superior Court Judge Daniel Goodell set an April 3 hearing on Olafsen’s bail reduction request.

Olafsen is accused of shooting Lawrence three times when with a .38 special on March 15 when Lawrence physically attempted to remove Olafsen from the bar. Mason County Sheriff's Office investigators said the shooting occurred during a scuff between Olafsen and Lawrence.

Lawrence has since recovered from the shooting.
