Rifle grenade found near Olympia.

OLYMPIA — Thurston County Sheriff’s deputies were investigating the discovery of a corroded World War II rifle grenade found Thursday northeast of Olympia.

The grenade was found under a home being remodeled in the 4900 block of Sleater-Kinney Road around 3 p.m., the sheriff’s office reported.

The Washington State Patrol Bomb Squad was called in to help safely dispose of the grenade, according to investigators.

“Always keep in mind to call 911 if you find any type of explosive devices and keep your distance,” the sheriff’s office stated on Facebook.
