ROCHESTER - A Rochester woman was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after her vehicle crashed into a flood canal Saturday night.
According to West Thurston Fire Chief Robert Scott, first responders responded to the area of 183rd Avenue Southwest after receiving reports of a single vehicle rollover crash.
Officials say the woman involved was driving when the car exited the roadway and nosed dive into the canal, with the vehicle landing on its top. The car landed in a way where it was not visible to cars passing by, Scott said.
After the crash, the woman was able to climb out of the vehicle and climb 10 feet of thick trees and brush to the roadway, where she flagged a passerby and said she was involved in a crash.
Scott said the woman was treated for substantial injuries and was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center for her injuries. It is believed the woman suffered injuries to her leg and chest due to the crash.
The Thurston County Sheriff's Office is investigating the collision.
