SHELTON (VIDEO) — The third annual Law Enforcement Torch Run in Mason County raising money for Special Olympics Washington gets underway Thursday.

The run starts at the Safeway parking lot in Belfair at 8 a.m. and concludes at the Little Creek Casino just outside of Shelton at 4:30 p.m.

Each section of the run ranges anywhere from 1 to 5 miles with the torch being passed off to different groups at specific check points, including North Mason and Shelton High schools.

The event which raises more than half a million dollars annually across the state gives money directly to Special Olympic athletes in their communities.

A large number of different law enforcement agencies from across the region will be running.
