Bryant is an indispensable fixture in the secondary, with the ability to play multiple positions and no defined spot. The Huskies are breaking in a new set of starters in the defensive backfield after an exodus to the NFL.
RENTON, Wash. (AP) - Geno Smith and Paxton Lynch head into Seattle's preseason opener locked in a battle to back up Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. Smith would appear to be the leader just based on his experience. Smith spent last season as a backup with the Chargers after spending the majority of his career in New York with the Jets and Giants. Lynch was a disappointment in Denver after being taken in the first round of the 2016 draft. He was released before the start of the 2018 season.
